NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - The Smith College soccer team held on for a 3-2 win over SUNY New Paltz Sunday afternoon in non-conference action. The Pioneers improve to 1-1-0 on the season while the Hawks drop to 0-2-0.

Zufan Bazzano's (Great Barrington, Mass./Monument Mountain) shot from inside the 18 was deflected by the keeper back into the box. Bazzano collected the rebound and shot from straight on.

Maggie Boyle's (Milford, Mass./Milford) free kick was uncontrolled in the box, deflecting off multiple players. Bazzano gained control to find the back of the net for her second goal of the game.Â
77' | SMITH | Aisling Keane (Bedford, Mass./Bedford) scored what would prove to be the game-winner when her shot deflected off a SUNY New Paltz defender into the goal.
84' | NEW PALTZ | The Hawks got on the board when Danielle Angyal found the back of the net off a pass from Kaitlyn Connolly.
88' | NEW PALTZ | With under three minutes remaining in the contest, Rachael Purtell played the ball into the box where Connolly touched the ball into the goal to cut the deficit to one.
