BABSON PARK, Mass. - The Smith College volleyball team suffered a pair of 3-0 losses to New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) foe Babson College and non-conference opponent Keene State College Saturday afternoon. With the defeats, Smith drops to 1-11 overall and 0-3 in league play.

- Sophomore Caleigh Johnson (Georgetown, Tex./St. Dominic Savio Catholic) .286 with seven kills.
- Junior Jody Huang (Cranston, R.I./Cranston) finished with 11 digs.
- Junior Kimani Freeman (Newark, N.J./Montclair Kimberly Academy) added 17 assists.
Kristin Carosotto and Avery Tronson combined for eight kills against no errors, and the Green and White hit .429 in the opening set to cruise to a 1-0 advantage. Lauren Gold, Allie Puccio and Gaby Miller all registered two early kills as Babson built a quick 12-4 lead in the second set. Smith got as close as four following back-to-back aces from sophomore
Amy Hagen (Owings, Md./Northern), but the Beavers responded with nine of the next 12 points to close out the frame.
Babson led throughout the third set and used four straight points on Miller's serve, including a pair of aces, to take its biggest advantage at 12-6. The Pioneers closed without two on three occasions, the last coming at 23-21, but Miller followed with a kill and the hosts took advantage of a Smith error on the ensuing point to close out the match.
