NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - Junior Jenna Tampon's (Oceanside, Calif./Vista) goal in the 57th minute proved to be the game-winner as the Smith College field hockey team edged Simmons College Tuesday evening in non-conference action. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
SMI 1 SIM 0 |56:19 - Tampon notched her first goal of the year on a pass across the cage from sophomore Grace Moorhead (Cranston, R.I./The Wheeler School). Tampon controlled the ball and slipped it passed the right side of the Simmons goalkeeper.

GAME NOTES

• Smith improves to 8-1 against the Sharks and has won the last five meetings
• The Pioneers held a 33-2 cushion in shots and 10-1 advantage in corners
• Smith goalkeeper Channy Cornell (Arlington, Tex./The Oakridge School) posted her second shutout of the season
