THE LEAD
A three-goal third quarter propelled the 18th ranked Babson College field hockey to a 4-1 win over Smith College Saturday afternoon in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • 18:08 - BABSON - Lauren Curley collected a feed from Kate Driscoll and blasted a shot inside the left post for a ninth goal of the year. 
  • 21:58 - SMITH - Victoria Mellow (San Diego, Calif./Scripps Ranch) wasted little time to even the game as she intercepted a pass and weaved through the Babson defense before lifting shot over the opposing goalkeeper
  • 31:34 - BABSON - Maddy Paro broke the deadlock with a blast from the right side of the arc off a penalty corner
  • 33:49 - BABSON - Maddy Paro penalty stroke
  • 34:07 - BABSON - Tori Roche put away the rebound of a shot by Brianne McGrath

GAME NOTES
  • The Beavers outshot the Pioneers 33-8 and finished with a 12-5 advantage in penalty corners.
  • Smith goalkeeper Channy Cornell (Arlington, Tex./The Oakridge School) stopped 11 shots. First-year goalkeeper Taylor wells made her collegiate debut, recording three saves with no goals allowed
  • Babson improves to 19-22-1 all-time against the Pioneers.
