BOSTON, Mass. - The Smith College soccer team fell to Emerson College, 2-1, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play on Tuesday evening at Rotch Field. Pioneer goalkeeper Naomi Falkenberg (Sutton, Mass./Sutton) made eight stops in 90 minutes of play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

1" (EMERSON): After Smith took the opening kickoff, Emerson won ball quickly. Cosgrove played Ingersoll through, who beat her defenders and fired past the goalie for the opening goal.

66" (SMITH): Owens took a low hard corner towards the center of the box that found Boyle, who took a one time shot towards the bottom left and hit her on the way, who redirected the ball into the left post and leveled the score at 1-1.

73" (EMERSON): The Lions won the ball in the midfield and MacQuarrie dribbled at the defense on the break. She found Cosgrove in the middle of the field, who fired from just outside the box and the ball sailed into the top left corner and out of Falkenberg's reach as the hosts went up 2-1.
