ALBANY, N.Y. - The Smith College basketball team is off to their best start dating back to the 2011 season as the Pioneers picked up a 70-52 road win at Sage College Saturday afternoon.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Sophomore forward Katelyn Pickunka (Westhampton, Mass./Hampshire) registered her first career double-double with 25 points and 10 boards
- Sophomore guard Dashelle Gleissner (Los Angeles, Calif./Serra)Â added 14 points with six steals and three assists
- Rookie guard Amelia Clairmont (Laconia, N.H./New Hampton School)Â chipped in with a career-high 12 points
- Sage sophomore Meghan Murray added a personal-best 12 points and seven rebounds off the bench with three steals and four assists for the Gators.
GAME NOTES
- Smith's last 5-0 start came during the 2011-12 season
- The Pioneers are 1-0 all-time against the Gators
- Pickunka is averaging 22.2 points per game and is shooting 73.2 percent from the field throughout the first five games
- The Pioneers shot 83.3% from the line for the game, making 20-of-24 free throws.Â
