NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - The Smith College soccer team erupted for four goals on Sunday afternoon as they cruised past Bard College, 4-0. The Pioneers four goals were all scored by different student-athletes with three coming in the second half.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- 10' - On Smith's first corner of the game, senior Reilly Sullivan (Keene, N.H./Keene) connected with junior Etienne Oliver (Sandy, Ore./The Catlin Gabel School) whose header trickled in the left side of the net.
- 62' - Sophomore Zufan Bazzano (Great Barrington, Mass./Monument Mountain) dribbled down the right side of the field and sent a cross in to sophomore Katie Salenius (Mendon, Mass./Nipmuc Regional) who was placed at the top of box. Salenius controlled the ball and laced a shot past the outstretched arms of the opposing goalkeeper.
- 70' - Smith capitalized on another corner as Bazzano one-touched a pass from sophomore Maggie Boyle (Milford, Mass./Milford) for her first goal of the year.
- 78' - After a save from the Bard netminder that brought her out of the box, senior Hannah Kelsey (Hopkinton, N.H./The Derryfield School) ripped a shot from 40 yards out for the final goal of the game.

- Smith begins the season 2-0 for the first time since 2013

- Sophomore goalkeeper Naomi Falkenberg (Sutton, Mass./Sutton) made three saves in the win
- Smith held a 6-4 edge in shots on goal, while the corners were equal at 6 apiece
