WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Smith College junior
Peyton McBride (Manchester, N.H./Goffstown) (Manchester, N.H.) scored a pair of goals to lead the visiting Pioneers to a 2-1 win over Wellesley College soccer in the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opener for both teams on Saturday at the Wellesley Fields Complex.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- 23' - McBride potted her third of the season after senior Reilly Sullivan (Keene, N.H./Keene) (Keene, N.H.) played her through to goal on the left side of the field
- 49' - A great individual effort from Gabriella Nicolosi knotted the score at 1-1 when she powered home a shot from distance past the Smith goalkeeper
- 50' -Â McBride countered with her second of the day and fourth of the season just 1:22 later, finishing on a break set-up by senior Hannah Kelsey (Hopkinton, N.H./The Derryfield School)
COACH BOUDWAY ON THE WIN

GAME NOTES
- Smith improves to 26-15-5 all-time against the Blue
- The Pioneers finished the game with a 9-7 advantage in shots on target and 7-1edge in corners
- Sophomore starter Naomi Falkenberg (Sutton, Mass./Sutton)Â turned back three shots in the first half, while first year Noemi Howland (South Pasadena, Calif./South Pasadena) also made three saves in the second half to earn the victory
