NORTHAMPTON, Mass.- A fourth quarter goal by first year Elena Korinek (Mystic, Conn./Stonington) propelled the Smith College field hockey team to a thrilling 4-3 win over Keene State Thursday evening. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
- 8th Minute (7:16) - Grace Moorehead took a pass from Kyleigh Poot (Fairfax, Va./Woodson) and used a reverse sweep to send it past the goalkeeper
- 14th Minute (13:15) - After a turnover in the circle by the Smith defense, Irini Stefanakos found the back of the net
- 25th Minute (24:45) - Victoria Mellow (San Diego, Calif./Scripps Ranch) ripped a shot from the top of the circle to give Smith the lead 
- 39th Minute (38:00) - Karlie Guimond (Hatfield, Mass./Smith Academy) drove down the left side of the field, beating multiple KSC defenders before blasting a shot from the top left of the circle
- 49th Minute (48:00) - Ellie Hunkins maneuvered around Smith's goalkeeper to find the back of the cage
- 51st Minute (50:14) - Maggie Cahoon tied the game on a one-touch from the left post
- 55th Minute (54:47) - Elena Korinek's (Mystic, Conn./Stonington) game-winner came off a loose ball in front of the cage that she corralled and pushed over the line

GAME NOTES

  • The Owls had the upper hand in corners (9-3) and shots on goal (9-8).
  • Smith goalkeeper Channy Cornell (Arlington, Tex./The Oakridge School) turned away six shots
  • The Pioneers improve to 4-12 in the all-time series
