Game Highlights
  • Brooklyn would go toe-to-toe with Smith through the majority of the opening period, taking a 13-12 lead following Sarah James' third three of the quarter at the 3:33 mark.
  • The Pioneers ended the quarter on a 6-0 run to lead 22-15
  • Smith would take a 28-15 edge with 8:39 to go in the first half on back-to-back three-pointers by Ally Yamada (Seal Beach, Calif./Fairmont Prep Academy) and Jane Loo (Saratoga, CA/Saratoga).  However, the Bulldogs didn't fold and went on an 11-1 run orchestrated by Gianna Gotti to cut the deficit to 29-26 with 4:22 remaining in the half.  The Pioneers responded with a 10-0 run of their own and go on to lead 42-31 at the half.
  • Smith held a comfortable cushion throughout the third and went up by as many as 15 on a Morgan Morrison (Detroit, Mich./Detroit Country Day) layup with 4:00 minutes to go
  • Gotti drilled a three with six seconds on the clock to pull within 65-58
  • Trailing 77-66 with 5:12 to go in regulation, the Bulldogs made it a two possession game thanks to a 6-0 run following a made layup finished by Nancy Pham with just over two minutes to play
  • Smith kicked the lead back up to nine following a three-point make with a little over a minute to go.  BC cut the Smith lead to as few as six with 15 seconds remaining, but the Pioneers were able to seal the contest at the free-throw line in the final seconds.
