Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. -- The Smith College volleyball fell to New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opponent Coast Guard, 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, 25-22) on Tuesday evening.
The Pioneers shift to 16-11 and 5-5 in conference play while the Bears improve to 18-7 and 7-3 on the season.

- The Bears jumped out to an early 14-3 lead in the first set
- With the Pioneers trailing 19-6, Smith posted a 12-2 run to close the gap to 21-18
- Coast Guard was able to pull away clinching the first set 25-21
- The Bears began the second set with an early 12-2 advantage before delivering a 7-1 run to increase the edge to 19-3
- Smith responded with six unanswered points to reduce the margin to 19-9 but Coast Guard continued to push finishing the second set with a 25-16 victory
- The third set was a close battle as the Pioneers held a slight edge at 13-12
- A 6-1 surge from the Bears allowed Coast Guard to pull ahead 18-14
- Despite coming within one point of Coast Guard at 18-17, the Bears finished the final set 25-22 securing the 3-0 sweep

- Leading the Pioneers in assists was Meg Hopkins (Matthews, NC/Covenant Day School) with 13 assists
- Sarah Dankovich (El Paso, TX/Coronado) posted 13 digs for Smith while also leading with seven kills
