Box Score NORTHAMPTON - The Smith College tennis team cruised to an 8-1 win over Nichols College Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference match. 

Doubles Highlights

• In the No. 3 position, Ashley Felix (El Paso, TX/Americas) and Alexa Monos (Wyomissing, PA/Wilson) made their debut this season after having a successful season last year as a pair. The duo continued that dominance only dropping a game and winning the first match of the day for Smith. 
• In the No. 1 slot, Lili and Clara Goshgarian (Lake Forest, IL/Lake Forest) quickly jumped ahead, and stayed up to get the 8-2 win over Carrero and Vougler
• Marielle Sauber (The Woodlands, TX/The John Cooper School) and Olivia Monos (Wyomissing, PA/Wilson) secured the doubles sweep in the No. 2 position. The pair played aggressive doubles and mixed up play making it impossible for the other team to gain any rhythm. 

Singles Highights

• The only loss of the day for Smith came in the number six position. Carlin from Nichols over powered Ashley Felix (El Paso, TX/Americas) securing her team the lone point with a 6-2 6-3 win. 
• The fourth point of the day came in the No. 3 position, where Sauber made quick work of her opponent winning 6-2, 6-1. 
• The match was clinched in the top spot by Lili Goshgarian (Lake Forest, IL/Lake Forest). Lili jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first set when her opponent started to battle to make it 3-2. From there, Lili was able to stay steady as her and her opponent exchanged games until Lili was able to secure the 6-4 win. After that, Lili cruised in the second set getting the 6-4, 6-2 win and securing the match for Smith. 
• Smith continued to add points to their score. In No. 5, Alexa Monos (Wyomissing, PA/Wilson) played lights out tennis, dictating from the baseline and dominating from every position in the court. She cruised to a 6-3. 6-2 win. 
• The closest match of the day was at No. 2. After dropping the first set, Clara Goshgarian (Lake Forest, IL/Lake Forest) found another gear and was able to elevate her level of play and secure the second set 6-4 forcing a match tie-break. In the match tie-break, Clara quickly jumped ahead and secured the match 10-5. 
• The last point of the day came for Smith in the No. 4 position where Olivia Monos (Wyomissing, PA/Wilson) made which work of her opponent 6-2, 6-2.
