Box Score BABSON PARK - The Smith College tennis team made its return to the NEWMAC semifinals for the first time since 2009 as the Pioneers took on Babson Saturday morning. The Beavers came out on top 5-0 as Smith's season came to an end with an overall record of 8-7. 

In doubles action, Babson jumped out to a quick lead on all three courts. On the No. 1 doubles court, Lili and Clara Goshgarian (Lake Forest, IL/Lake Forest) were taking on the #3 ranked doubles team in the region. The duo from Smith fell behind 5-0 early in the set. They won two consecutive games to make the score 5-2 and looked to make another incredible comeback after being in a similar situation in their quarterfinal match. However, the top team of Soffer and Cristiani from Babson proved to be too strong today for Smith and were able to close out the match 8-3, securing the doubles sweep for their team. 

Smith brought great energy on all courts going into singles. 

In the number two position, Clara Goshgarian (Lake Forest, IL/Lake Forest) took on the #13 player in the region, Matia  Cristiani. Goshgarian battled really well playing a very tough opponent. Cristiani was able to close out the match 6-0, 6-0. 

The last point of the day for Babson came in the No. 4 slot. Alexa Monos (Wyomissing, PA/Wilson) took on Juliette Moschella. Monos battled from the baseline, extending each of her points to make her opponent earn every point she played. Even with her incredible fight, Moschella was able to get the point and clinch the match for Babson with a 6-0, 6-0 win.
