NORTHAMPTON - The Smith College field hockey team was upended by nationally-ranked Amherst, 6-0, in a non-conference tilt on Wednesday evening.

• Amherst connected for a goal in the first by Molly Donegan before adding two in the second to take a 3-0 lead into the halftime break
• The visitors tacked on two more strikes in the 36th and 39th minute before Abby Kays concluded the scoring in the 49th minute as six different goal scorers found the back of the cage in the win
• Emma Newman (Clarks Summit/Abington Heights) made a career-high 15 saves between the pipes
• The Mammoths outshot the hosts 22-11 and held an 11-4 advantage in corners
