Shams Ferver (Barre, VT/U-32) and
Lucy Kreipke (Princeton, NJ/Princeton) raced among the nation's best at the NCAA Division III Championship Saturday at LaVern Gibson Cross Country Course. The duo raced in a field of 290 runners to conclude their fall campaign.
Kreipke was Smith's top finisher, finishing 215th in 23:10.9, followed by Ferver in 236th with a time of 23:25.5.
"I'm incredibly proud of the perseverance of these athletes through a long, exhausting season," said Director of Cross Country Jack Wood. "They earned the right to race against the best in the country, and are leaving Terre Haute hungry for even greater challenges ahead."
Faith Duncan of Wilmington (Ohio) won the race in 20:16.5 by finishing over 30 seconds ahead of Vassar's Haley Schoenegge. MIT won the team title with 128 points followed by University of Chicago (138) in second and Williams in third (155).
