Softball Picks Up Wins Against SUNY Brockport and Bates

CLERMONT, FL - The Smith College softball team delivered two more victories on Thursday as it topped SUNY Brockport, 3-0, before edging out Bates, 2-1. The Pioneers improve to 6-4 on the year. 

SUNY Brockport Highlights
  • Molly Taketa (Redmond, Wash./Woodinville) homered in the top of the first and Piper Corey (Phoenix, AZ/Horizon Honors) went 2-for-2 at the plate with 2 RBI for the 3-0 win
  • Bailey Gray (Missouri City, TX/Ridge Point) improved to 2-0 on the year with five strikeouts in a complete game effort
Bates Highlights
  • June Shantz and Corey each recorded a hit and RBI 
  • Emilie Doty (Arlington, VA/Washington-Liberty) struck out five and allowed one run on four hits to move to 4-1 
Up Next
Smith will play two midwest teams tomorrow starting with Wisconsin-Eau Claire at 9:15am followed by Wisconsin-Stevens Point at 1:30pm.
