Babson Tops Lacrosse, 20-3

BABSON PARK - Nine different players scored for Babson as the Beavers cruised to a 20-3 win over Smith College in NEWMAC women's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon at MacDowell Field. 

Smith dropped its second in a row and fell to 4-5 overall and 1-1 in the NEWMAC.With the victory, Babson posted its third straight win to move to 4-1 on the season and 2-0 in conference play. 

By the Numbers
  • Tschider tallied two goals for Smith, while Gia Arancio (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) added a third
  • Jennie Arancio (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) finished with three draw controls, two ground balls, and a pair o assists
  • Caroline Sanders (Orange County, CA/Santa Margarita Catholic) collected four draw controls, while Bella DeAngelo (Portsmouth, RI/Moses Brown School) forced two turnovers and picked up two ground balls
  • Goalkeeper Shannon Houtenville (East Windsor, NJ/Highstown) made 11 saves in the loss
Game Highlights
  • Tschider opened the scoring for both teams before Babson rattled off six unanswered to finish the quarter with a 6-1 lead. 
  • Babson again came out with a strong second period, scoring six consecutive goals before Tschider added her second of the game. 
  • The Beavers added four in the third and another for in the fourth before Gia Arancio (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) scored with under a minute in the game.
