NORTHAMPTON - Seniors
Gia Arancio (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) and
Jennie Arancio (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) combined for eight goals and three assists as Smith College rolled to a 20-5 victory over Emerson College in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's lacrosse action on Wednesday evening.
Gia Arancio (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) recorded her 100th career goal in the game and her sister Jennie reached the 100 career point milestone.
Smith improves to 8-8 overall this spring and 5-4 in conference play. Emerson has dropped three of its last four games to fall to 5-9 overall and 2-7 in the NEWMAC.

- Kyra Hawk (San Jose, CA/The Harker School) finished with four goals, two assists and two ground balls
- Caroline Sanders (Orange County, CA/Santa Margarita Catholic) contributed two goals, four draw controls, three ground balls and two caused turnovers, while Jennie Arancio (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) added five draw controls, five ground balls and four caused turnovers
- Smith owned a 35-14 advantage in shots and 18-8 edge in draw controls
Game Highlights
- Smith scored three goals in just over a two minute span early in the first before Emerson got on the board with 8:51 on the clock. The Pioneers went on to score seven unanswered goals to head into the second ahead 10-1.
- Tschider, Sanders, and Erin Hume (Gorham, Maine/Gorham) found the back of the next in the second period to lead 13-1 at half.
- Smith continued its dominance with four more goals in the third but Emerson outscored Smith 4-3 in the final period.
