NORTHAMPTON - Annika Peterson (Forest Hill, MD/North Harford) scored all three goals but it was not enought as the Smith College field hockey team fell in overtime in the championship game of the Caryl Newhof Classic. Peterson was joined on the All-Tournament Team by classmate Gwen Tuckett (Cambridge, MA/Dana Hall School).

Game Highlights

• After a scoreless first period, Emma Wright put the visitors ahead 1-0
• Peterson tied the game on a feed from Caroline McShea (Pittsburgh, PA/Oakland Catholic) and went ahead just minutes later when she took a pass from Laura Dreher (Durham, NH/Oyster River) to find the cage
• Smith's lead did not last long as Colleen McMenamin knotted the game once again and Olivia Danley gave OWU a 3-2 lead just as the half expired
• Callahan Day (Shady Side, MD/Elizabeth Seton) fed the hot stick and found Peterson for her third goal of the game in the fourth quarter
• The visitors controlled the overtime period and Wright was credited with the game-winner
• The Bishops held a 13-8 edge in shots on goal. Each team was awarded eight corners.
• Rory Harper (Wayne, PA/Radnor) made seven saves in net for Smith
