NORTHAMPTON, Mass. — Smith College Bears student-athletes Ruth Tullis (Edmond, OK/Oklahoma Christian School) (volleyball) and Darci DeAngelis (Boise, ID/Boise) (lacrosse) have been selected to the NCAA Division III Student Immersion Program, a selective leadership and career-development experience held in conjunction with the NCAA Convention this January in Washington, D.C.

The program introduces Division III student-athletes to governance, mentorship, and career pathways across intercollegiate athletics through DiSC training, small-group learning, and networking with administrators and coaches.

"Darci and Ruth have distinguished themselves not only as dedicated student-athletes at Smith, but also as outstanding leaders within our community. We're incredibly proud of their commitment to exploring careers in athletics. Their participation in the Immersion Program will be an invaluable experience, and we're confident they'll represent Smith with excellence. I'm thrilled that they'll have the opportunity to expand their networks, deepen their self-understanding, and explore future career possibilities," said Jess Duff, Associate Athletic Director/Title IX Coordinator.

Throughout convention week, Tullis and DeAngelis will attend education sessions, connect with NCAA staff and campus leaders, and participate in guided reflections designed to translate insights into action on campus—reinforcing Smith's commitment to developing leaders who excel in sport and beyond.

The NCAA Division III Student Immersion Program is a fully funded initiative that brings together a national cohort of student-athletes for leadership development, mentorship, and exposure to Division III governance and Convention programming. Participants engage with athletics professionals to explore future roles across the college athletics enterprise.
