Sky Smith Reaches Career Saves Milestone Against WPI

NORTHAMPTON - The Smith College soccer team fell to WPI 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon, as WPI's offense capitalized with two goals from 21 total shots. Senior goalkeeper Sky Smith (Carlisle, MA/Concord-Carlisle Regional) totaled 12 saves to reach over 300 in her career. The Bears hold a record of 3-11-2 overall and 2-7-1 in the NEWMAC. The Engineers stand at 10-5-3 on the year with a conference mark of 5-3-2. 

First Half Highlights
- Maeve Steckley put WPI on the board in the 10th minute, assisted by Katie Adiletta.  
- Kaleigh Quinn (Bristol, RI/St. Mary Academy) and Amelia Dion (Burlington, VT/Burlington) each had shots on goal, both saved by WPI's Ayla Verheul.  
- Sky Smith (Carlisle, MA/Concord-Carlisle Regional) recorded multiple saves, including a notable stop against Madison Shaw's attempt at the 24th minute.  
- WPI led 1-0 at the end of the first half, despite the Bears' offensive efforts.  

Second Half Highlights
- Sky Smith (Carlisle, MA/Concord-Carlisle Regional) made crucial saves on attempts by Madison Shaw and Caetlyn Embree in the early minutes of the half.  
- WPI's Abigail Johnson scored in the 62nd minute, extending their lead to 2-0.  
- Quinn and Helena Prusak (Shaker Heights, OH/Wyoming Seminary) each tested Verheul with shots on target, but both were saved.  
- The Bears earned multiple corner kicks but were unable to convert them into goals.
