ITHACA, NY - The Smith College swimming & diving team delivered a strong start on the first day of the 14th Annual Bomber Invitational, presented by The Hotel Ithaca Thursday evening. Ithaca (775 points) leads the University of Rochester (638.5), Smith College (334), Vassar (327), William Smith (212), Union (210.5) and Alfred University who totaled 158 team points. The 400 medley relay team of Abby Caputo,
Emma Schultz (Hyattsville, MD/Elizabeth Seton),
Jessie Wang (Princeton, NJ/Princeton), and
Maddie Milla (Nyack, NY/Nyack) set a new program record with a time of 4:04.68 to finish fourth.
Highlights
- The 400 medley relay team beat the 2015 time of 4:04.95 set by Erika Schroeder, Christine Hart, Alyssa Pascuzzo, and Abby Onos.
- Wang placed sixth in the A Final of the 500 free, posting a time of 5:17.13
- Swimming in the A Final of the 200 IM was Schultz, who came in seventh in 2:13.58
- On the boards, Katherine Welsh (St. Paul, MN/Saint Paul Academy) won the 1-meter with a score of 454.05.

The invitational will resume at 9 a.m. on Friday with prelims in the 400-yard IM, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard backstroke, "B and C" final of the 800-yard freestyle relay with the finals then taking place later in the evening at 6 p.m., along with the "A" final of the 800 freestyle relay.
