Box Score SOUTH HADLEY - The Smith College lacrosse team won its NEWMAC opener on Friday, defeating Mount Holyoke by a final score of 15-4. Smith moves to 4-3 on the year and 1-0 in the NEWMAC. The Lyons even their record to 2-2 overall and begin conference action 0-1.

- Layna Fitzgerald (Indianapolis, IN/Cathedral) finished with a career-high seven goals and added an assist
- Kyra Hawk (San Jose, CA/The Harker School) added a hat trick and an assist
- Caroline Sanders (Orange County, CA/Santa Margarita Catholic) recorded two goals, three ground balls, and three draw controls
Game Highlights
- After trailing 2-1 with 3:45 left in the first, Smith rattled off nine-straight goals and held a 10-3 lead at halftime
- Layna Fitzgerald (Indianapolis, IN/Cathedral) and Jordan Hoffman (Portland, OR/Jesuit) scored within 30 seconds in the third but the Lyons responded when Juliana Spaulding found the back of the net with under two minutes on the clock
- Smith continued the attacking offense in the fourth, scoring three times for the 15-4 final
