PUERTO RICO – The Smith College lacrosse team put together a dominant offensive performance in a 17-10 victory over Worcester State on Tuesday morning. Led by Kyra Hawk (San Jose, CA/The Harker School) and Caroline Sanders (Orange County, CA/Santa Margarita Catholic), the Pioneers built an early lead and never looked back, securing their fifth win of the season.

- Caroline Sanders (Orange County, CA/Santa Margarita Catholic) added five goals, continuing her strong scoring run.
- Sanders also sercured her 100th career point on Tuesday morning with her goals.
- Sadie Tschider (Piedmont, CA/Piedmont) contributed two goals, including a key fourth-quarter strike.
- Jordan Hoffman (Portland, OR/Jesuit), Danika Lipchitz (Needham, MA/Gann Academy), and Emma Butterick (Windsor, CT/Windsor) each found the back of the net.
- Brooke Testa (Pittstown, NJ/Delaware Valley) anchored the defense with 18 saves in goal.
- The Pioneers outshot Worcester State 29-28 and controlled the tempo from the start.
How It Happened
- Smith wasted no time getting on the board, with Sanders and Hawk striking early to give the Pioneers momentum. The first quarter ended with Smith holding a 7-4 advantage after Hawk notched a hat trick and Hoffman added a goal.
- The Pioneers extended their lead in the second quarter, outscoring Worcester State 5-2. Lipchitz and Tschider each found the net, while Hawk continued her scoring spree, pushing Smith's halftime lead to 12-6.
- Both teams tightened up defensively in the third quarter, but Smith maintained control, holding Worcester State to just two goals while adding scores from Butterick and Sanders.
- In the fourth, Hawk put the game out of reach with two more goals, while Tschider added the final Smith tally to cap off the 17-10 victory.
