Box Score 2 Northampton, MA - In a day that saw Smith Tennis travel across the state for two different matches, they were able to get the important NEWMAC win over Emerson in the morning, while falling to Brandeis in the afternoon.
How it Happened
- In the first match of the day, Smith took on Emerson at Mount Holyoke.
- Behind Clara and Lili Goshgarian (Lake Forest, IL/Lake Forest) in the number one singles, they were able to gather the doubles point. Ayla Hauser (Knoxville, TN/Bearden) and Sabrina Wang (Beijing, China/Princeton) also helped with a 6-1 win in the #2 doubles.
- Smith was also able to get every singles point as well.
- Natazya Simunyola (Lorton, VA/South County High School) gathered a win with the scores of 6-1 and 6-0 in the number one singles.
- The Goshgarian sisters both picked up wins in singles play as well.
- Tabitha Bastress (Charlotte, VT/Champlain Valley Union High School) picked up and 6-0, 6-0 win in the number five singles to help clinch the point.
- In the second match of the day, Smith traveled to Winchester Tennis Club to take on Brandeis University.
- In doubles play, Ayla Hauser (Knoxville, TN/Bearden) and Marielle Sauber (The Woodlands, TX/The John Cooper School) clinched a point for Smith as they won 7-6 with the tie break points of 7-5.
- Ayla Hauser (Knoxville, TN/Bearden) then went and put up a tough fight against Brandeis #1 in singles play losing a tight match by the scores of 5-7 and 3-6.

Smith (4–8) returns home next week as they take on Endicott. First serve is scheduled for Monday, April 7th at 4:30pm.
