No. 5 Williams Tops Smith

WILLIAMSTOWN - Williams College (4-1) secured a decisive 6-0 victory over the Smith College (3-3) field hockey team, with the home team posting 34 shots and converting six of them to maintain a strong offensive presence throughout the match.

The Ephs capitalized on persistent pressure in the first quarter to take a 1-0 lead against the Bears. Kiki Higgins' goal at the 12:01 mark, assisted by Sawyer Rowland, marked her third of the season. Williams outshot Smith, with Pilar Torres narrowly missing twice, including hitting the post, while the visitors were unable to register a shot. Despite the pressure, Smith held Williams to a single goal by the end of the quarter.

The second quarter started with intense defensive play from Smith's Iseul Park (Ann Arbor, MI/), who saved multiple shots from Williams, including attempts at 24:27 and 25:19. Williams dominated this phase with aggressive offensive play, generating eight shots and converting one for a goal by Higgins at 26:33, her fourth of the season. Smith's defense, anchored by Park, managed to block numerous attempts, with Park making five critical saves. Despite the pressure, Smith was unable to mount a counterattack, ending the quarter trailing 2-0.

Williams dominated the third quarter to secure a decisive victory, adding three goals to their tally. Pilar Torres converted a penalty stroke at 31:08, followed by goals from Higgins and Anna Miller within a two-minute span. Despite Smith's strong defensive effort, with Park making six saves in the quarter, Williams' offense proved relentless. The scoreboard showed a 5-0 lead for the Ephs at the end of the third quarter.

The fourth quarter opened with a strong defensive effort from the Bears, as Park made a crucial save against a shot from Mikaela Condran at 49:35. Williams extended their lead with a goal by Haley McAuslin, assisted by Sienna Alday, at 54:58, sealing a decisive 6-0 victory. The Bears' Park registered crucial saves, stopping shots from Condran and Alday, but Williams' offensive pressure proved too strong.
