Alum Margaux Buchanan ‘07 Elevates Smith Crew with Game Changing Gift

NORTHAMPTON - Smith College Athletics is excited to announce a transformational moment in Smith Rowing history. Margaux Buchanan '07 has made a $250,000 gift to the program to open a Smith Crew Endowment.

"This is an incredible gift to the program that will have a significant impact on generations of Smith Crew athletes. Margaux Buchanan is stepping up to support women's sports in a powerful and bold way. Thank you for your incredible generosity!" - Smith Rowing Head Coach Clare Doyle.

During her time at Smith, Margaux rowed for Coach Karen Klinger '87 who shared this:
"As a student and teammate Margaux was both a true competitor and great student who knew what she wanted and went for it. To have her step up in leadership, establishing a crew endowment for the long term support of the team...is immense. And yet so in character. I am truly thankful that her time as part of this team was important enough that she decided to make this incredible difference. I hope that this will be a challenge and encouragement for others to take a stand with her, for the next generations to come." Thank you Margaux!

It seems only right to make sure that the next generation of Smith Crew is financially secure to teach perseverance, commitment and engagement to the next generation in only a way athletics and the zen of rowing can.
