Lacrosse Begins 2026 Campaign Saturday at Skidmore

NORTHAMPTON - With a loaded roster of eight seniors and four of its top five goal scorers from a season ago returning, expectations are high for the Smith College lacrosse program. Smith, which was selected No. 5 in the NEWMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, begins its season on Saturday, February 21 at Skidmore. 

Schedule Breakdown
  • Smith's regular season schedule consists of 17 games which includes 10 games against NEWMAC opponents (Babson, Coast Guard, Clark, Emerson, MHC, MIT, Salve Regina, Springfield, Wellesley, and Wheaton)
  • In addition to the NEWMAC, Smith plays seven non-conference games against Skidmore, Emmanuel, WNEU, Hartford, Amherst, Westfield State,and Denison
  • Smith plays three games against teams that were ranked in the 2026 IWLCA Preseason Poll (#10 Denison, #14 Amherst, #19 Babson)
  • On Saturday, April 18, Smith will host Senior Day to recognize the following student-athletes
  • All home and NEWMAC games will be streamed on FloCollege
Head Coach Katie Moore
  • Now in her 11th season, head coach Katie Moore is joined by graduate assistant coaches Ally Washburn and Phoebe Crowther
  • Moore has guided Smith to the NEWMAC Quarterfinals in the last six season seasons of play
Players to Watch
  • Caroline Sanders (Orange County, CA/Santa Margarita Catholic) (41 goals/25 assists/66 points) and Kyra Hawk (San Jose, CA/The Harker School) (61 goals/25 assists/86 points) earned All-Conference honors a season ago
  • Jenna Paczkowski (Jupiter, FL/Choate Rosemary Hall) and Layna Fitzgerald (Indianapolis, IN/Cathedral) combined to score 60 goals in 2025
  • An experienced defense is highlighted by Darci DeAngelis (Boise, ID/Boise) (28 ground balls/17 caused turnovers), Leigh Hillmanno (Yardville, NJ/Princeton Day School) (23 ground balls/11 caused turnovers) and Yasmin Grant (South Orange, NJ/Columbia) (14 ground balls/18 caused turnovers)
  • Sanders led the squad with 92 draw controls last year followed by Jordan Hoffman (Portland, OR/Jesuit) (37) and Caroline Weyhrich (Boise, ID/Boise) (32)
  • Brooke Testa (Pittstown, NJ/Delaware Valley) made 17 starts in goal, totaling 124 saves and a 7-5 record
First Home Game
Smith hosts Emmanuel in its home opener on Wednesday, February 25 at 5:00pm.
