NEW LONDON, CT - Smith College senior
Katherine Welsh (St. Paul, MN/Saint Paul Academy) and first-year
Miranda Strunk (Lowell, MA/Lowell) competed in the one-meter event at the NCAA Region 3 Diving Championships this afternoon at Connecticut College's Lott Natatorium.
Out of 27 individuals in the event, Welsh placed seventh with a score of 416.90 and Strunk finished 23rd at a 349.75.
A score of 442.30 won the NCAA Regional one-meter title for MIT's Fiora Beratahani today. Donna Zhang of Amherst College took second place with a 440.55 score, and Cailey Simard of Bridgewater State University scored a 436.00 for third place. All three divers earned berths into the NCAA Championships with their finishes today.
Based upon the results from both events, a total of seven divers from the Connecticut College Regional will advance to NCAA's. The women's three-meter event tomorrow will follow the men's one-meter competitor, which begins at noon.
