NEW LONDON, Conn. — Smith College (2-3) triumphed over Connecticut College (2-1) with a 6-1 victory on Saturday at Luce Field House. The Bears secured the win by sweeping all three doubles matches and capturing five of six singles contests.

Smith College secured the doubles point with decisive victories on all three courts. At No. 1 doubles, Ava Emrich (Smyrna, Delaware/Tower Hill School) and Heidi Cambron (Sherbrooke, Canada/Champlain College Lennoxville) edged Maya Kowalska and M. Prendergast, 7-6. Ayla Hauser (Knoxville, TN/Bearden) and Natazya Simunyola (Lorton, VA/South County High School) followed with a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles against Asahi Goods and Lily Kerachsky. Olivia Chin (Bayside, NY/Dominican Academy) and Emily Wang (Westford, MA/Westford Academy) completed the sweep with a 6-3 victory over Teagan Skulley and Marylove Reynolds at No. 3 doubles.

In singles, the Bears extended their lead when Ayla Hauser (Knoxville, TN/Bearden) triumphed in a three-set match at No. 1 singles, overcoming Maya Kowalska 6-3, 3-6, 6-4. Emrich added another point with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles over Kerachsky. Cambron clinched a straight-set victory at No. 3 singles, defeating Prendergast 6-4, 6-2.

Emily Wang (Westford, MA/Westford Academy) kept the momentum going at No. 4 singles, securing a 7-6, 6-4 win against Goods. Simunyola also contributed with a 7-5, 6-1 result at No. 5 singles over Skulley. Connecticut College managed to take a point at No. 6 singles, where Sydney Concepcion defeated Tabitha Bastress (Shelburne, VT/Champlain Valley Union High School) 6-1, 6-3.
