JJ Hoffstein

JJ Hoffstein begins his second season on the sidelines with the Smith College basketball program as a graduate assistant for the 2019-20 campaign. Hoffstein will be pursuing a Master's degree in Exercise and Sport Studies.

Hoffstein joins Smith College after a four year career as a financial associate at Goldman, Sachs, & Co. in New York City. While at Goldman, Hoffstein worked on liquidity risk management, and firm-wide committee governance in the Corporate Treasury department.

Hoffstein graduated from Amherst College in 2014, where he majored in Economics and served a student assistant basketball coach on the Amherst women's basketball team during his senior year. That season, the Lady Jeffs posted a 26-4 record, making it to the NESCAC Finals and to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16. As a student assistant, Hoffstein was involved in every part of the program, and took a particular interest in generating pace-adjusted player and team efficiency statistics to aid coaching decisions.
