NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--The Smith College field hockey team (2-6, 0-2 NEWMAC) will look to make it two wins in a row as they welcome Massachusetts Institute of Technology (9-2, 1-1 NEWMAC) for a 1 p.m. NEWMAC contest on Saturday, October 1.

Allie Stein (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) scored her fifth goal of the season for the Pioneers and
Savannah Lawson (Oak Bluffs, Mass./Martha's Vineyard) made 14 saves.
Last Smith Win: October 18, 2008 - Sarah Knowles scored the game winner in double-overtime as the Pioneers knocked off the Engineers 2-1 in Cambridge.
Phoebe Hopkins (Philadelphia, Pa./Friends Select) opened the scoring 11:31 into the second half, before Anna Teruya leveled for MIT at the 55:46 mark.

Grace Maliska (Winchendon, Mass./Murdock) both scored in their first games back from injury, and Hopkins also scored in her second game back.
MIT Overview: The Engineers bring a three game winning streak to today's contest, the most recent of which was a 2-1 win over Endicott on September 27. MIT boasts a high scoring and balanced offence, averaging four goals per game, while 11 different players have found the back of the cage for the Engineers.
Smith Player to Watch: Savannah Lawson (Oak Bluffs, Mass./Martha's Vineyard) - the sophomore netminder has been in outstanding form this season, with 93 saves in six contests, compared to 116 in 13 games last year. Lawson averages 15.50 saves per game, which ranked third in the entire country.
MIT Player to Watch: Kameron Klauber - the senior leads the nation with 15 assists, and has three game winning goals.
Did you know? The Pioneers and Engineers have each scored 12 goals in a game this season. Smith did so against Bay Path on September 10, while MIT did against Lasell on September 6.
