Babson improves to 10-3 overall, and remains undefeated in NEWMAC play with a 5-0 record. Smith is now 6-7, and 1-4 against NEWMAC opposition.
The Beavers got the game's opening goal 3:41 into the contest, as Caroline Malone scored the first of her two goals, hooking home a pass from Lockwood.
Lockwood doubled the advantage less than four minutes later, firing home as pass from Julia Pochini.
Smith responded at the other end, as
Jenny Estes (Falmouth, Mass./Falmouth)' cross flashed across the box, but rolled out of play.
Allie Stein (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) put a shot wide, and

In the second half, the Pioneers picked up where they left off, as Stein's goalbound effort was cleared off the line by Kelly Walsh, and both
Emma Camilleri (Florence, Mass./Wilbraham & Monson) and Stein tested Florence. The Pioneers earned five penalty corners in the first 10 minutes of the half, but could not find a way past the Babson 'keeper, who finished with seven saves.
With 20 minutes remaing, Lockwood made it 3-0 with an unassisted marker, and Pochini made it 4-0 less than a minute later with her fourth of the season, set up by Lockwood. Lockwood completed her hat-trick in the 60th minute, and added two more goals for the final margin.
