NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--The fall season comes to an end for the Smith College tennis team (0-6, 0-6 NEWMAC) when the Pioneers travel to MIT (7-1, 6-0 NEWMAC) for the final NEWMAC match of the season.
Last Meeting: MIT opened the year with a 9-0 win over Smith on September 10, 2011.
Eunice Zhao (Las Vegas, Nev./Liberty) came closest to a win for Smith with a 1-6, 6-3, 1-10 loss at No. 6 singles.
Last Smith Win: October 17, 1998. Smith beat MIT 8-1 in their final team match of the fall season.
Smith Overview: Smith came close to their first win of the year in a 5-4 defeat to Clark University on Tuesday evening. Smith earned their first points of the season when the duo of
Kyle Gouchoe-Hanas (Durham, N.C./Carolina Friends) and
Jordan Dubin (Southampton, N.Y./Southampton) won at No. 2 singles, while Dubin, Gouchoe-Hanas, and Ashley Burke all scored singles wins.
MIT Overview: League leading MIT has cruised this fall, with the only loss being a 5-4 defeat to Tufts University back on September 20. The Engineers have never allowed an opponent to win more than three matches in any league game this year.
