Squash Falls To Vassar and William Smith At Wesleyan Invitational

MIDDLETOWN, Conn.--Jacqueline Zhou (Singapore, Singapore/) continued her strong play as the Smith College squash team completed play at the Wesleyan Invitational on Sunday afternoon.  The Pioneers fell to Vassar College and WIlliam Smith College.

In the opener against Vassar, Zhou won her third straight match at No. 1, with scores of 11-6, 11-6, 5-11, 11-6.  Eunice Zhao (Las Vegas, Nev./Liberty) pushed her opponent to the limit at No. 2, with a 10-12, 11-4, 7-11, 6-11 result, and Szilvia B. Kiss also went close at No. 3, falling 12-10, 4-11, 5-11, 8-11.  Vivian Lee (Seoul, South Korea/Yongsan International School of Seoul) fell 3-1 at No. 4, by scores of 5-11, 11-6, 2-11, and 7-11.

In the second match against their namesake Wiliiam Smith, the Pioneers fell by a 9-0 score.  Zhou fell in a tough, physical match at No. 1, winning the first game 11-3 before falling behind 4-11 and 7-11.  Zhou tied the match with an 11-2 win in the fourth game, but fell in the deciding game by an 11-7 score.  Eunice Zhao (Las Vegas, Nev./Liberty) also won a game at No. 2, with a 4-11, 11-9, 11-13, 4-11 finish, and Vivian Lee (Seoul, South Korea/Yongsan International School of Seoul) also took a game in a 13-11, 6-11, 7-11, 4-11 defeat.


The Pioneers will be back in action with a single match against Amherst College on December 5.
