AMHERST, Mass. - Dropping just one of 25 sets, the 19th-ranked Amherst women's squash team cruised to a 9-0 sweep of Five College rival Smith at Davenport Courts.
Winning the first two games of her first position match-up with Jacqueline Zhao , Chandler Lusardi rebounded from a hard-fought 12-10 loss in the third with an 11-5 victory in the fourth frame.
Arielle Lehman secured a 3-0 (11-3, 11-5, 11-4) decision over
Eunice Zhao (Las Vegas, Nev./Liberty) in the second spot, while first-year Ericka Robertson continued to impress, dispatching of Szilvia Kiss '13, 3-0 (11-3, 11-3, 11-7).
Fellow rookie Khushy Aggarwal followed suit with a 3-0 (11-7, 11-4, 11-1) victory over
Vivian Lee (Seoul, South Korea/Yongsan International School of Seoul) in the fourth position, while Corri Johnson lost just one point in a dominating 3-0 (11-0, 11-1, 11-0) triumph over
Haruka Shimoto (Tokyo, Japan/International School of the Sacred Heart) '16. Sarah Nyirjesy earned a pair of 11-2 wins over
Jana Chan (San Francisco, Calif./The Bay School) before closing out the sweep with an 11-5 score in the third, while Taryn Clary handled
Carly Melillo (Chester, Conn./Valley), 3-0 (11-1, 11-1, 11-1)
Mary Katherine McNeill defeated Jennifer Yoo '16, 3-0 (11-0, 11-1, 11-2), in the eighth slot, while Ginny Wheeler won by default at the bottom of the order.
Amherst returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 8 vs. Northeastern. Smith will be back on the courts on Jan. 18, hosting the Pioneer Valley Invitational with Mount Holyoke College and Amherst College
