Box Score NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--Senior
Allie Stein (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) became Smith's all-time leading scorer with a four goal, two assist performance as the Smith College field hockey team trounced Western New England University, 10-1, on Thursday afternoon. The Pioneers (9-2) ended a two game losing streak with the win.
Stein now has 73 goals and 42 assists for 188 career points, one more than Smith Hall of Famer Paola Prins '86. The senior is already Smith's all-time and single season leader in assists, and is second all-time in goals and in single season points.
"I had a hunch it might happen today," said Stein, who needed 10 points going into the game to break the record. "It was October 10 (10/10), I needed 10 points, and my jersey number is 10."
Stein got the scoring party going 10 minutes into the game with an assist, centering a pass for
Marissa Vara (Hudson, Mass./Hudson) to score her fourth of the season. The senior got her first goal of the game four minutes later, as
Kat Estes (Falmouth, Mass./Falmouth) provided the perfect feed for Stein to slam in her 21st of the year.
The Golden Bears (2-10) pulled a goal back with an unassisted tally from Hillary Naranjo-Mejia in the 18th minute, but Smith put the game out of sight before halftime with five straight goals.

Casey Rau (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts).

Rebecca Meagher (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough) for her seventh of the year in the 28th minute, and
Kat Estes (Falmouth, Mass./Falmouth) got on the scoresheet with her second goal of the season two minutes after that.
Smith was awarded a penalty corner as time expired in the first half, and Stein turned provider again, setting up

1:19 into the second half, the one they call the Record-Breaker lived up to her billing. Classmate
Meg Richardson (Kents Hill, Maine/Kents Hill School) provided the pass that Stein slipped past WNE substitute 'keeper Jessica Hale for her 24th goal of the season. It was the third time this season and sixth time in her career that Stein has scored four goals or more in a game. Her 188 points are tied for 23rd all-time in NCAA Division III history, and is the fourth highest total in NEWMAC history.
The Pioneers kept pouring on the goals, as Vara set up
