Game Preview: Basketball vs. Wheaton

NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--The Smith College basketball team will look to head into the break on a high note when the Pioneers (1-2, 1-1 NEWMAC) host Wheaton College (4-0, 2-0 NEWMAC) on Tuesday night.


Last Meeting: Behind a 20 point, nine rebound performance from Rosa Drummond (Rye, N.H./Portsmouth), Smith beat Wheaton 74-60 on January 26, 2013. The Pioneers forced 31 turnovers off the Lyons.

The Series: Wheaton leads 29-17, but Smith has won the last five matchups, by an average of 14.6 points per game.

Fast Facts: This is just the second road game of the season for the Lyons...Wheaton has not allowed more than 59 points in any of their games this season...Wheaton has won nearly half as many games already this season as they did all of last year...Abbie Brickley has hit double-figures in every game this season, including a 23 point, six rebound, four steal performance against Trinity...Smith was upended by Babson on Saturyday...The Pioneers led by five at halftime but were outscored by 19 in the second half...Sydney Parkmond (Waterbury, Conn./Chase Collegiate) had her second straight double-double...Smith committed a season high 29 turnovers...Smith is 12-13 against Wheaton all-time at home.

Next Up:  Smith will return to action on December 4, traveling to Mount Holyoke College.  Wheaton will host Emerson on the same date.
