NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--The Smith College basketball team (2-4) finishes out the calendar year when the Pioneers host Westfield State University (3-3) in a non-conference game on Tuesday night.


Last Meeting: Smith rolled to an 82-60 win over the Owls on January 2, 2013, behind an 18 point, six rebound, four steal performance from Devon Quattrocchi (Brewster, N.Y./Brewster).

The Series: Westfield State leads, 12-9.  Smith has won the last two meetings between these two, which ended a string of seven straight wins for Westfield State.

Fast Facts: This is the third straight road game for the Owls...Westfield State ended a two game losing skid with a 66-53 win over Lasell on December 5...Gabby Felix had 17 points and 12 rebounds in that contest...The Owls are led by Jen Ashton, who is averaging 13 points and 5.5 assists while shooting 47% from the floor and 81% from the line...Smith fell 68-53 to Wellesley College on Saturday...Lauren Weston (Florence, Mass./Northampton) poured in 11 points on 5-for-5 shooting off the bench...Rosa Drummond (Rye, N.H./Portsmouth) had 14 points and Jade Chihara (Laihana, Hawaii/Laihanaluna) chipped in nine with two assists and two steals...Drummond now needs 47 points to pass Lauren Kernochan '00 and move into fourth place on the list of point scorers at Smith College...Smith will be looking for its first non-conference win of the season.

Next Up:  Smith is off until January 1, when the Pioneers travel to Middlebury College.  Westfield State will play once more in 2013, hosting UMass-Boston on December 12.
