Game Preview: Basketball vs. Emerson

NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--The Smith College basketball team will play at home for the first time in 10 days when the Pioneers (5-8, 5-4 NEWMAC) host league newcomer Emerson College (5-8, 2-7 NEWMAC) on Saturday afternoon.


Last Meeting:  Smith and Emerson have never met on the basketball court before.

Fast Facts: The Lions have won just two of their last 10 after starting the season 3-0...Emerson is 1-4 away from home...this is the beginning of four straight away from home for Emerson...Kristin Brice leads Emerson with 14.0 points per game, and has had two games of 29+ points this season...Brice also leads the league in rebounds per game (9.7)...Smith had a three game win streak ended in a 58-57 non-conference loss to Trinity (Conn.)...Paulina Solis (Santa Ana, Calif./Foothill) had her best game of the year, shooting 7-of-14 from the floor and 4-for-7 from three...since moving into the starting lineup, Jade Chihara (Laihana, Hawaii/Laihanaluna) has nine steals in five games, compared to 12 steals in the first eight games, when she came off the bench...

Next Up:  Smith travels to Clark for a Sunday afternoon matchup tomorrow.  Emerson will also be on the road, playing at MIT on Sunday.
