MIT's Mari Kordell led the Engineers with 17 points, followed by Sabrina Drammis' 14 points and 15 rebounds.  Michelle Battapaglia also hit double-figures with 10 points.

The game began started as a back and forth affair, featuring five ties in the first 10 minutes.   MIT moved in front on a three from Kordell and two free throws by Rachel Hunt that gave the Engineers a 15-10 lead, but Smith went on a 10-4 run over the next six minutes, as Parkmond's layup cut the deficit to one (19-18) and two free throws by Solis moved Smith in front.

MIT took a 23-22 lead on Battapaglia's basket with 2:41 left in the first half, but Smith took the lead on Jazmine Collins (Springfield, Mass./Sabis)' layup and led 26-25 at halftime.

The Engineers opened the econd half on a 8-2 run capped by a three point play by Kordell for a 33-28 lead, and expanded their lead to 37-30 on a basket by Battaglia at the 14:42 mark.  Drummond then took over, scoring six straight points to get Smith within one, and after Kordell's jumper put MIT up 39-36, Solis knocked down a three that tied the score, then picked the pocket of Durva Bhandare for fast break layup that put Smith up for good.

The Pioneers never looked back, going up by seven when Solis fed Drummond for a basket with 3:58 to play, and MIT never got closer than five the rest of the way.

Smith has a quick turnaround, returning to Ainsworth Gym to host Springfield College at 7 p.m. on Thursday.  MIT will head to league leading Wheaton on the same day.
