Squash Competes in Seven Sisters Championship

February 01, 2014

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – Seniors Vivian Lee (Seoul, South Korea/Yongsan International School of Seoul), Roseanne Hui (San Marino, Calif./San Marino) and Laura Chesney (Glendale, Calif./South Pasadena) were honored before the opening match of the 2013 Seven Sisters Squash Championship hosted by Smith College, on Saturday.

The team shouldered a 9-0 decision in the opener against an alternate Mount Holyoke lineup. Lee played a competitive match at No. 1, against a student-athlete that normally plays at No. 3, (8-11, 4-11, 13-15) and narrowly forced a fourth game. Hui suffered a similar fate as she fell 3-11, 5-11, 10-12 at No. 9.

Gracie Maull (Exeter, N.H./Miss Porters (CT)) had a good match despite a 6-11, 8-11, 7-11 setback at No. 5 against the Lyons. She was also the most consistent Pioneer in a 9-0 loss to Wellesley (2-11, 2-11, 2-11).

Wellesley unseated seven-time champion Mount Holyoke by going 2-0 on the day, including a 6-3 victory in a head-to-head matchup.

The All-Tournament team was announced at a banquet following an informal individual flight competition.
