Game Preview: Basketball vs. MIT

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – The Smith College basketball team (11-10, 11-5 NEWMAC) puts its five-game conference winning-streak on the line this afternoon with a home contest against MIT (9-11, 6-9 NEWMAC) at 2:00 p.m. inside Ainsworth Gym.
 
Last Meeting: The Pioneers halted a four-game slide with a 58-53 decision over MIT on January 7.
 
The Series: Smith has won the last 15 meetings and boasts an overall record of 29-11.
 
Fast Facts: MIT knocked Wellesley out of first place as it registered a 55-35 win on Thursday night…Sabrina Drammis led the Engineers with 16 points while the starters outscored the Blue 42-27…Maya Ramachandran paces the league with a 57.5 percent field goal percentage (65-of-113) and has not taken a shot from beyond the arc all season…Rosa Drummond (Rye, N.H./Portsmouth) leads the conference with 16.0 points per game while Drammis is third with 15.2…Smith raced past WPI on Thursday behind 24 points from Paulina Solis (Santa Ana, Calif./Foothill) and a career-high 14 from Lauren Weston (Florence, Mass./Northampton)…the Pioneers lead the NEWMAC with 10.7 steals per game overall and 11.4 just in conference play…entering Saturday's action, Smith is one game behind Wheaton (12-4) and a half game behind Coast Guard and Wellesley (11-4)…
