Box Score NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – The Smith College volleyball team returned to New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play Tuesday by hosting the first-place United States Coast Guard Academy. Smith dropped the conference clash by the final score of 3-0.

The Bears (9-2, 3-0) defeated the Pioneers (6-7, 1-2) by the set scores of 25-13, 25-11 and 25-11. Sophomore Allison Hardy (Nashville, Tenn./University School of Nashville) led the hosts with a team-high five kills. First-year Xela Miller (Granada Hills, Calif./James Monroe) chipped in four kills, while fellow first-year Jenna Rubin (Norfolk, Conn./Suffield Academy) tallied a pair of solo blocks. Senior Samantha Danguilan (Round Lake, Ill./Round Lake), filling in at libero, finished with 11 digs.

Smith returns to conference play on Thursday, Sept. 25, when the Pioneers host the Springfield College Pride at 7 p.m.
