NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – The Smith College Squash team co-hosted the 2015 Pioneer Valley Squash Invitational with Amherst and Mount Holyoke College, with a total of 44 matches played during the three-day event.

The Pioneers began play on Friday night against the 14th-ranked Drexel University Dragons. The Dragons were victorious in just the second meeting between the two schools, posting a 9-0 win.

Smith followed with a match against the 27th-ranked Connecticut College Camels Saturday, with senior Jacqueline Zhou (Singapore, Singapore/Raffles Institution) posting an 11-9, 11-8, 11-6 win over Ashley Arthur.

Zhou moved to 2-1 in the number one spot on the weekend with a 3-1 win over Tully Ross in Smith's 8-1 loss to Bowdoin College.

The Pioneers, who have three players in their first season, and two more in their second year of organized squash, continue to improve with each match and will be back in action on Jan. 24 when they travel to Mount Holyoke College.
