Box Score NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - The Smith field hockey team scored two goals in the final 3:34 and added one in overtime in their come from behind NEWMAC win over MIT on Senior Day Saturday evening.

Smith improves to 8-6 and 4-2 in conference play, while MIT (8-3)  sufferes just their thrid loss of the year and is now 4-1 in NEWMAC play. With the win, the Pioneers now lead the all-time series 16-15 and earn their first win against the Engineers since the 2008 season.

Freshman Bailey Tregoning scored both goals for MIT as the Engineers' 2-0 lead held until the 66:26 mark.

At that point, Julia Hamilton (Williamstown, Mass./Deerfield Academy) collected a loose ball and placed it in the back of the net to cut the deficit in half, 2-1. Inspired by her teammates play, Mariah Ollive (Milton, Vt./Milton) took an Elsie Odhiambo (Oyugis, Kenya/Kisumu Girls School) pass and sent it past the keeper to tie the game with 47 seconds remaining in regulation.

The Pioneers were able to control the beginning of overtime and were awarded a penalty corner where Emily Biggs (Florence, MA/Northampton) netted the game-winner with the assist going to Casey Rau (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts).

Goalkeeper Cameo Tietje (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) was outstanding in net, keeping her team at striking distance for the majority of the game as she recorded four saves in the win. Evie Kyritsis made five stops for the Engineers.

"I'm very proud of the team., they played their game and found success," Smith Head Coach Jaime Ginsberg said. "At our timeout, I asked them if they had the confidence to win and they said yes. This win places us well in a very competitive conference."

The Pioneers will face yet another ranked opponenet this season when they host No. 14 Amherst Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
