Last Meeting

Meghan Holland (Atherton, Calif./Sacred Heart Prepatory) tallied 10 points but Smith's comeback fell short as the Pioneers dropped a 56-52 decision to Springfield on February 4, 2015. Smith trailed by nine points midway through the second half and battled back to cut the deficit to two with 45 seconds to play. 

The Series
The Pride hold a 29-11 lead and have won the last three meetings. Smith's last win came on February 12, 2014 and the Pioneers are 6-14 playing at Springfield. These two teams played in the 2014 NEWMAC Women's Basketball Championship game. 

The Pride
Springfield (7-3, 2-0) enters Wednesday's game after a 51-43 loss to No. 18 Tufts in the championship game of the Hampton Inn West Springfield/Naismith Classic on Sunday afternoon. In that game, Ava Adamopoulos registered a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Emily Gins chipped in 13 points and five boards as both earned All-Tournament honors. Adamopoulos ranks third in the NEWMAC, shooting 53.0 percent from the field. Through 10 games, the Pride average 69.5 points per game and are shooting 36.8 percent from the field and 25.2 percent from 3-point range. 

The Pioneers
Smith (3-6, 0-2) looks to pick up their first conference win of the season Wednesday night at Springfield. The Pioneers are coming off a 64-43 loss to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on December 30th in Claremont, California. In that game, sophomore guard Paige Marquez (San Francisco, Calif./St. Ignatius College Preparatory) poured in a team-high 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting. First-year forward Kennedy Guest-Pritchett (Fairburn, GA/The Lawrenceville School) leads the Pioneers wtih 11.9 points per game, followed by Marquez's 8.6 points per contest. Guest-Pritchett ranks sixth in the NEWMAC in rebounds per game, averaging 8.8 per game. The pioneers score 62.4 points per game and are shooting 36.3 percent from the field and 27.0 from behind the arc.
