THE SERIES
The game marks the 41st all-time meeting between the two programs, dating back to the first contest in 1976 - a 4-1 Purple and White victory. Amherst has won the last 22 games. 

LAST MEETING
Smith goalkeeper Cameo Tietje (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) recorded a career-high 25 saves in the Pioneers' 3-1 loss to No. 14 Amherst on October 22, 2015. The three goals scored by Amherst was the lowest allowed by Smith against the Purple and White dating back to the 2006 season. Julia Hamilton (Williamstown, Mass./Deerfield Academy) scored for the Pioneers. 

LAST SMITH WIN
Smith claimed a 3-2 overtime victory on October 25, 1994. 

SCOUTING AMHERST
Amherst is the fifth New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) team the Pioneers will play this season. The Purple and White are coming off a 6-2 win over Colby College Saturday afternoon. In that game, junior Mary Grace Cronin netted her first career hat trick, including the game's first goal and the game-winner. She converted on three of her four shots to post a .750 shot percentage. Up front Amherst returns offensive threat and 2015 Second Team New England West All-Region honoree Sara Culhane who is ranked second in the conference in goals (37) and points (37). Senior goalkeeper Emily Horwitz, who earned First All-NESCAC, First Team New England West All-Region and Second Team ECAC All-New England honors in 2015, boasts a 1.68 goals against average and .750 save percentage. Amherst leads their conference, averaging 3.58 goals per game, 

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
Smith will face their fourth top-20 opponent of the season Wednesday night against No. 10 Amherst. In their last outing, the Pioneers beat MIT, 1-0, the Engineers' first conference lost of the season. In that contest, junior forwrd Julia Hamilton (Williamstown, Mass./Deerfield Academy) scored in the 46th minute and Cameo Tietje (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) recorded eight saves. Julia Hamilton (Williamstown, Mass./Deerfield Academy) (6-2-14), senior Elsie Odhiambo (Oyugis, Kenya/Kisumu Girls School) (5-2-12) and sophomore Emily Biggs (Florence, Mass./Northampton) (4-0-8) have combined to score seven game-winning goals, while sophomore Bayleigh Bogan (Encinitas, Calif./La Costa Canyon) (1-4-6) leads the team in assists. Tietje, who leads the conference with 95 saves, has posted a 2.54 goals against average and a .772 save percentage this season. The Pioneers average 1.57 goals per game.
