NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - The Smith College volleyball team
opened their home tournament against Hamilton College Friday evening at Ainsworth Gymnasium. The Pioneers took the first set, but ultimately fell 3-1 by set scores of 23-25, 25-15, 25-12 and 25-10.
The Continentals hit a game-high .444 in the fourth set and finished the night hitting .248 compared to -.026 for the Pioneers.
The visitors were led by junior outside hitter Erin Donahue's 15 kills and sophomore setter Meghan Wilkinson who tallied 45 assists. Freshman defensive specialist Kendall Searcy totaled 17 assists. Courtney Brown and Giuliana Rankin finished with nine and eight kills, respectively.

Elizabeth Peay (Lebanon, Conn./Lyman Memorial) put home a team-high seven kills, while first year outside hitter
Kimani Freeman (Newark, N.J./Montclair Kimberly Academy) added six kills, three digs and two blocks. Sophomore setter
Maca Rojas (Santiago, Chile/Liceo No. 1 Javiera Carrera) orchestrated the offense with 21 assists to go along with six digs and two kills. Senior libero
Julie Voorhes (Ramona, Calif./Ramona) finished with 18 digs.
The Pioneers close out the 2016 Hall of Fame Tournament tomorrow with matches against Emmanuel College at 10:00 a.m. and Bridgwater State University at 1 p.m.
