SCOUTING THE EPHS
Williams (2-1) finished last season 17-8 and was knocked out in the quarterfinals of the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) tournament. The Ephs will be led by junior Ammani Freeman who received first team All-Conference recognition and New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWMAC) All-Region second team honors as a sophomore. Williams enters Sunday's contest after a 66-46 win over Springfield Tuesday evening. In that game, senior Lauren McCall recorded a double-double of 16 points, 12 rebounds. Decon Caveney and Emily Chang each added 16 points for the Ephs. Williams averages 56.0 points per game.
SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
At 3-0, Smith is off to their best start since the 2011-12 season. The Pioneers are coming off a 53-36 win over Colby-Sawyer to claim the 2016 Tyler Tip-Off Tournament crown. In the championship game,
Kennedy Guest-Pritchett (Fairburn, Ga./The Lawrenceville School) finished with a season-high 20 points to go along with seven rebounds and junior guard
Paige Marquez (San Francisco, Calif./St. Ignatius College Prepatory) was just shy of a double-double with nine points, nine boards, three assists, and three steals. Guest-Prichett was named to the NEWBA Honor Roll on Monday as the sophomore forward averaged 17.3 points on 21-of-41 (.512) shooting and 8.3 rebounds per game over the Pioneers' first three games of the season.
